New Delhi, Aug 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday called upon legislative bodies across the country to make available the speeches of India’s freedom fighters, stressing that their words continue to hold relevance for both young citizens and elected representatives.
Speaking at the All India Speakers’ Conference at the Delhi Assembly, Shah said India’s parliamentary traditions were enriched by leaders who were not only lawmakers but also freedom fighters.
“When we are sitting in this House, we must remember that many leaders, who were great freedom fighters, also contributed to our legislative procedures,” he said. “I request the Speakers to make available the speeches of those great leaders. The youth and the MLAs must know the words that ignited India’s freedom struggle and sustained it.”
