Srinagar, August 25 — The Chief Minister today inaugurated the “Empowering Communities – Welfare for All” programme at SKICC, Srinagar, underscoring the Government’s commitment to inclusive growth, social justice and empowerment of marginalized communities across Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated an exhibition showcasing welfare initiatives, felicitated achievers from various fields, sanctioned loans for women and disadvantaged groups, and handed over prosthetic aids and scooties to persons with disabilities (PwDs).
Highlighting the Government’s shift from a charity-driven approach to a rights-based welfare model, the Chief Minister said that several flagship measures have been rolled out to uplift the underprivileged. These include enhanced marriage assistance for girls from economically weaker sections, a pension hike benefiting over 10 lakh people, and free public transport for women.
He further announced the upgradation of 500 Anganwadi Centres into Saksham Centres and Bal Vidyalayas, along with the establishment of dedicated facilities such as Shakti Sadans and Vatsalya Sadans.
Reiterating the administration’s resolve to build an equitable and empowered society, the Chief Minister said: “Our focus is on ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey of development. Welfare must translate into dignity, rights, and opportunities for all.”
The programme witnessed wide participation from beneficiaries, social activists, and community leaders.
