Pulwama: Following multiple complaints of medical negligence, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has transferred ten doctors from District Hospital Pulwama in a move aimed at restoring accountability and improving patient care.

The transfers are part of a broader strategy to overhaul healthcare services in the region, especially in facilities that have faced persistent public grievances.

The action comes shortly after former Health Minister Sakina Itoo hinted at a major reshuffle in the healthcare sector. Locals have welcomed the decision, expressing hope for better monitoring, professionalism, and improved patient care.

“We’ve witnessed patient suffering due to staff negligence. Accountability was long overdue,” said Riyaz Ahmad, a recent hospital visitor.

A senior health official said more reforms, including staffing changes, infrastructure upgrades, and grievance redressal systems, are on the way. Notably, 31 doctors have been transferred across Kashmir, with 10 from the Pulwama facility alone.
