New Delhi, July 30, 2025:External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Tuesday in Rajya Sabha described the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) as a “very unique agreement” and criticized what he called the selective recollection of history during a discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha.

“The Indus Waters Treaty in many ways is a very unique agreement,” Jaishankar said. “I cannot think of any agreement in the world where a country has allowed its major rivers to flow to the next country without having rights on that river. So it was an extraordinary agreement.”
