SRINAGAR: A pilgrim from Ludhiana, Punjab, went missing near Z-Morh during a night trek, prompting a massive rescue operation in central Kashmir’s glacier zone.
The deceased, identified as Surinder Pal Arora, son of Gain Chand Arora, was part of a group trekking from Burimarg to Railpathri around 12:30 AM when he reportedly began exhibiting signs of high-altitude sickness. Officials said he behaved erratically—running aimlessly, taking repeated cold water showers, and eventually jumping over a railing into a glacier.
In response, joint rescue teams from SDRF, NDRF, JKAP, CRPF, Village Guards, and other agencies launched an intensive search, aided by drone surveillance across the rugged terrain.
As of this report, efforts to retrieve the body were ongoing.
