Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir – May 26, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Mehraj Malik has called on the central government to immediately release the pending development funds for Jammu and Kashmir, citing a prolonged delay that has stalled key projects in the region.Addressing reporters in Banihal, Malik voiced concern over what he described as bureaucratic inertia and neglect despite the formation of a government with a clear public mandate. “There was a strong mandate. The government was formed, but now why is there a delay?” he questioned.

Malik emphasized that as an elected representative, he has been persistently raising the issue but to no avail. “It is the government’s responsibility. They have received support from a large section of the population, and now they must be held accountable,” he said.Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Malik noted that despite assurances, no tangible progress has been made. “Nothing has changed in the past eight months. Five months have already passed, the sixth month has begun, yet the funds are still withheld,” he added. The AAP leader urged the central authorities to prioritize the release of funds to ensure timely development and address the growing concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
