Patna, May 25: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from both the party and the family for six years, citing “irresponsible conduct” and deviation from the values upheld by the RJD and the Yadav family.

The dramatic decision came in the wake of a viral Facebook post, purportedly from Tej Pratap’s account, in which he claimed to have been in a romantic relationship with Anushka Yadav for the past 12 years. The post included several photos and personal details, sparking controversy. Tej Pratap later disowned the post, alleging that his account had been hacked and the content manipulated to defame him and his family.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Lalu Yadav said, “Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behaviour of my eldest son are not in line with our family values and traditions. Therefore, under these circumstances, I am removing him from the party and the family. He will have no role in either for the next six years.”

The development has triggered political ripples in Bihar, with party insiders and observers closely watching how the RJD navigates the fallout from this internal rift. Neither Tej Pratap nor other family members have issued a formal response to the expulsion at the time of this report.
