AMRITSAR, May 10: Indian Army Air Defence units intercepted and shot down multiple Pakistani Kamikaze drones early Saturday morning after they crossed the International Border (IB) into Punjab’s Amritsar sector, defence sources said.
The drones, identified as Byker YIHA III models, were launched around 5 a.m. and were reportedly headed towards densely populated civilian areas.
Responding swiftly, the Army’s Air Defence (AAD) system detected and neutralised the drones within seconds of their intrusion into Indian airspace, preventing any potential damage or casualties, the sources added.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact number of drones involved and their intended targets.
