New Delhi, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with the country’s top defence and security leadership to review the emerging security situation, as military tensions with Pakistan continue to escalate.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs. Official sources said the discussions focused on assessing the current scenario and formulating strategic responses to potential developments along the border.
The conflict with Pakistan has intensified in recent days, with the Indian armed forces responding “proportionately and adequately” to Pakistani attempts to target key Indian installations. According to Indian military officials, Pakistan has begun mobilising its troops towards forward deployment areas.
“The Pakistan military is observed to be moving its troops closer to the border,” said Colonel Sofiya Qureshi during a joint press briefing with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
India has reiterated its preparedness to deal with any provocation and remains committed to protecting its territorial integrity.
