May 9 A woman was killed and another injured on Thursday in a cross-border shelling incident in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to officials, the shell struck a vehicle traveling from Razerwani to Baramulla near Mohura village. The deceased was identified as Nargis Begum, wife of Basheer Khan, a resident of Razerwani. Another woman, Hafeeza, wife of Razeek Ahmad Khan, sustained injuries in the blast and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla for treatment.
A health official at GMC Baramulla confirmed the casualty and said the injured woman is undergoing medical care.
The incident comes amid heightened tension along the Line of Control, with reports of continuous shelling by Pakistani forces in various border areas across Jammu and Kashmir over the past few days.
