Srinagar, Aug 24: Jal Shakti Minister Javed Rana on Sunday reviewed Jammu and Kashmir’s flood preparedness amid the ongoing monsoon season, directing officials to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of major rivers including the Jhelum, Ravi and Tawi.

During his visit to the Flood Control and Management Room at Ram Munshi Bagh, the Minister lauded the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department for introducing the Flood Watch App, which provides real-time alerts to both authorities and the public.

Officials informed the Minister that the Flood Control Department is fully equipped with modern sensors, logistics and a coordinated response framework to tackle any eventuality.

Calling for public vigilance, Rana reaffirmed the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through technology-driven measures, comprehensive planning and swift action.
