NEW DELHI, May 8: India on Thursday announced it had successfully foiled a large-scale offensive by the Pakistani military, which attempted to target 15 strategic locations across Northern and Western India using missiles and drones. In a decisive response, Indian forces also destroyed a Pakistani air defence installation in Lahore.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan launched coordinated attacks late Wednesday night, aiming at key sites including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
All hostile attempts were neutralised through India’s Integrated Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (ICUAS), along with its advanced Grid and Air Defence networks, the ministry said.
The escalation comes amid growing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, raising concerns over the possibility of a broader conflict.
