May 6: Two people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday morning after a bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Ghani area of Mendhar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
Officials said the vehicle was on its way to Mendhar when the driver reportedly lost control near Khod Dhara. The bus skidded off the hilly road and rolled down into a gorge, resulting in the immediate death of two passengers.
Soon after the incident, rescue teams comprising police personnel, Indian Army units, and local residents rushed to the site. The injured were evacuated and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the matter, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
