April 26: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called for tightened security measures across the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Siddaramaiah said, “Steps will be taken to send back Pakistani citizens as per the instructions of the Central Government. Information will be obtained about the number of Pakistanis in various cities of the state.”

While condemning the violence, he stressed that Karnataka is not in favour of war but believes in strengthening preventive mechanisms.

“We are not in favour of war. Steps should be taken to tighten security measures in the Kashmir region. The Central Government should increase security to ensure peace in Kashmir,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s statement comes amid growing national outrage over the attack, which has raised questions about gaps in the existing security infrastructure.Authorities in Karnataka are expected to begin collecting data on Pakistani nationals residing in the state as part of broader efforts to ensure internal security and cooperation with central directives.
