KOTA, Apr 26: A tragic incident has shaken the coaching hub of Kota, where a 23-year-old NEET aspirant from Delhi was found dead near a railway track just days after deciding not to appear for the upcoming medical entrance exam.
The deceased, Roshan Sharma, had been preparing for the NEET-UG exam scheduled for May 4. However, according to his parents, he recently informed them that he was unwilling to take the exam this year and wished to postpone his attempt by another year.
Ranjit Sharma, Roshan’s father and a carpenter from Tughlakabad in Delhi, broke down outside the mortuary of a local hospital while waiting to claim his son’s body. He shared that he and his wife had visited Kota just a few days earlier to persuade Roshan to return home with them, but he had declined.
Just three days after they returned to Delhi, Roshan’s body was discovered in the bushes near a railway track early Thursday morning. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that he may have consumed a poisonous substance. A detailed postmortem report is awaited to confirm the cause of death.
This incident adds to growing concerns about the mental health and well-being of students preparing for competitive exams in Kota, often under intense academic and emotional pressure.
