SRINAGAR, April 23 — In the aftermath of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced financial assistance for the victims and their families. An ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to the families of those who lost their lives, while Rs 2 lakh will be given to those who were seriously injured. Individuals with minor injuries will receive Rs 1 lakh.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it a “heinous and cowardly act” targeting innocent civilians.
“We are devastated by the horrific violence in Pahalgam. Such acts of terror have no place in a civilised society. While no amount of compensation can make up for the loss of loved ones, this assistance reflects our solidarity and unwavering support to the victims and their families,” the Chief Minister said.
Authorities have ensured that all arrangements are in place for the respectful return of the deceased to their homes. Medical facilities have been mobilised to provide the best possible care for the injured.
“Our thoughts are with the bereaved families during this painful time,” the Chief Minister added. “This act of terror will not shake our determination. We will pursue justice relentlessly and ensure those responsible are held accountable.”
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across the region, with leaders and civil society members denouncing the violence and calling for unity in the face of adversity.
