Srinagar, Sept 17: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday conducted an on-spot assessment of the ongoing restoration work on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44). He was accompanied by Minister Javed Rana during the visit.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to accelerate the restoration process, emphasizing that the prolonged closure of the vital road link is severely affecting the supply of essential commodities, particularly fresh fruit, to the Valley.
This was Abdullah’s second visit to the affected site. It followed a joint review meeting he held a day earlier with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to evaluate the pace of restoration efforts.
