SRINAGAR, April 19 – The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has notified scheduled power outages in parts of Budgam and Kupwara districts on April 21, 22, and 23, 2025, to facilitate ongoing infrastructure upgrades under various development schemes.
In Budgam district, the shutdown is necessitated by conductor stringing work under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) along the 33KV Khanda Tap line from BK Pora to Khanda. As per the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, this will require the 33/11KV Receiving Station at Khanda to remain non-operational, disrupting electricity supply to Chattergam, Magrapora, Suthsoo, Gowherpora, and nearby areas. The power supply will remain suspended from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on April 21 and again on April 23.
In Kupwara district, the widening and strengthening of the National Highway from Rafiabad to Tangdhar via Kupwara and Chowkibal—being carried out by BEACON—will necessitate the shutdown of several key 33KV lines, including Kupwara Hot, Kupwara Old, and MES. Consequently, operations at multiple receiving stations such as Tikker, Galizoo, Drugmulla, Khumriyal, Krusen, Diver, Sogam, and Machil will be halted. This will lead to a disruption in power supply to Kupwara town, Gulgam, Pazipora, Drugmulla, Nagri, Arampora, the entire Lolab Valley, Machil, and adjoining areas from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM on April 22.
KPDCL has urged residents in the affected areas to plan accordingly and assured that electricity will be restored promptly upon the completion of the scheduled works.
