Gulmarg, June 24: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday inaugurated the much-awaited Golf Championship in the picturesque town of Gulmarg. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of treating tourists with warmth and respect.
“Our behaviour towards tourists should be warm and welcoming. We must not see them as one-time investments. They should leave with happy memories,” he said, underlining the long-term value of positive tourist experiences for the region’s image and economy.
Reflecting on his personal connection with the sport, Omar Abdullah added, “I have watched golf since my childhood. It has always had a special attraction for me.”
The championship, set against the stunning backdrop of Gulmarg’s green meadows and snow-capped peaks, is expected to attract both national and international players, further boosting tourism in the valley.
