Baramulla, May 25: Police in north Kashmir’s Uri area on Monday apprehended an alleged drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Jhandiya Dardkote on the Uri National Highway and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
According to police officials, a naka was established at Jhandiya Dardkote along the Uri NHW as part of routine checking. During the operation, police intercepted a suspect and conducted a search, leading to the recovery of approximately 60.5 grams of a charas-like substance.
The accused was immediately taken into custody and the contraband was seized on the spot.
Police said that a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Uri, and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
