SRINAGAR, Apr 20: Authorities in Bandipora district of north Kashmir have apprehended a man accused of using social media to spread provocative content and incite anti-national sentiments.

The individual, identified as Aijaz Ahmad Wani, son of Gh Hassan Wani and a resident of Bangar Mohalla Hajin, was reportedly managing a Facebook page titled Kashmir Timer. Police allege that the page was being used to circulate misleading posts aimed at discrediting security forces and promoting separatist views.

A formal case has been filed under FIR No. 31/2025 at Police Station Hajin, and an investigation is currently underway, police officials confirmed.

The Bandipora police said they are actively monitoring online activity to counter the dissemination of harmful and inflammatory content. “Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to glorify terrorism, propagate separatist ideology, or tarnish national institutions,” a police spokesperson stated.
