NEW DELHI, May 21: Axis My India chief Pradeep Gupta on Wednesday said the BJP’s political dominance, which began in 2014, could continue for at least two decades if the party maintains strong governance and performance.
In an interview with PTI, Gupta compared the BJP’s current position to the Congress era of dominance before 1977, saying Indian politics often follows a 20-year cycle of one-party predominance.
He said rising public expectations after repeated electoral victories mean the BJP and the NDA must continue to “super perform” to retain voter confidence.
Gupta also noted that the Congress is still struggling with the burden of its past governance image and may need several more years to regain nationwide trust. According to him, if the Congress remains out of power until 2029, it would mark around 15 years in opposition, with recovery likely taking even longer.
At the same time, Gupta cautioned that political dominance can also increase pressure on ruling parties as public expectations continue to rise.
