Srinagar, Feb 18: In a significant step towards strengthening tourism security through technological innovation, Jammu & Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University, has organized a two-week workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar.

The workshop, being held from February 16 to 27, 2026, aims to enhance the professional capabilities of police personnel in tackling tourism-related security challenges by integrating modern technology, smart surveillance systems, data-driven policing, and digital response mechanisms into day-to-day policing functions.

The inaugural session was presided over by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, who delivered the keynote address. In his remarks, SSP Srinagar lauded the collaborative initiative and underlined the growing importance of technology-enabled policing in a tourism-centric region like Jammu and Kashmir.

He described the workshop as a progressive step towards building a tech-savvy and citizen-friendly police force, adding that such training programmes not only enhance operational efficiency but also strengthen public confidence in the policing system.

On the occasion, the Director of Rashtriya Raksha University’s J&K Campus presented a memento to SSP Srinagar as a gesture of institutional collaboration. Among others present were DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Shri Nazir Ahmad, and other senior police officers.

The workshop will cover key areas such as cyber awareness in tourism zones, use of surveillance technologies, emergency response systems, digital documentation, tourist assistance mechanisms, and best practices in tourism policing. Experts and faculty members from Rashtriya Raksha University will conduct interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based training exercises for participating officers.

The initiative reflects the commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police to modernize its functioning and ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for tourists. By integrating advanced technology with traditional policing practices, the department aims to establish a robust framework for tourism security and service delivery across the region.
