Srinagar, February 18: Omar Abdullah on Wednesday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team for scripting history by qualifying for the final of the Ranji Trophy for the first time.
In a message of appreciation, the Chief Minister hailed the team’s semi-final victory as a landmark achievement, stating that it reflects the players’ determination, discipline, and the growing sporting culture in Jammu and Kashmir.
He extended special praise to team captain Paras Dogra for becoming only the second player in the Indian domestic circuit to score more than 10,000 runs in the Ranji Trophy, calling it a “remarkable personal milestone that inspires young cricketers across the region.”
The Chief Minister also lauded the outstanding bowling performance of Auqib Nabi, who delivered a match-winning nine-wicket haul in the semi-final, taking his season tally to an impressive 55 wickets from 16 innings.
Describing the achievement as a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said the team’s success would motivate aspiring sportspersons and further strengthen the region’s sporting ecosystem.
The Jammu and Kashmir side will now compete in their maiden Ranji Trophy final, marking a historic chapter in the Union Territory’s cricketing journey.
