Jammu, Feb 12: The Omar Abdullah-led government has set a target of creating 50,000 private sector jobs in Jammu and Kashmir over the next four years, senior leader Satish Sharma said on Thursday, underscoring the administration’s focus on employment generation and economic revival.
Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly in Jammu, Sharma said the government is working to boost private investment and improve the business environment in the Union Territory. Efforts are underway to attract reputed national and international firms, including global technology companies such as Google and Microsoft, to expand job opportunities for local youth, he added.
Sharma also reiterated the government’s commitment to regularize daily wagers within a year, saying policy measures are being formulated to address their long-pending demands.
Criticizing the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board for charging examination fees from unemployed aspirants, Sharma termed the practice burdensome and said the government is exploring measures to ease the financial strain on job seekers.
His remarks come amid rising public expectations over employment generation and the regularization of temporary workers in the Union Territory.
