SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Wednesday reviewed the progress of key health sector schemes in the district, with special emphasis on ensuring maximum coverage of senior citizens under the Ayushman Vay Vandana (AVV) Scheme.
During the review meeting, the DC stressed the need to cover all eligible individuals aged 70 years and above under the scheme so that senior citizens can avail enhanced health security benefits. He directed the concerned departments to intensify outreach and awareness efforts to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left out.
Officials informed the meeting that over 12,000 senior citizens in Srinagar have already been provided AVV cards, enabling them to access additional health coverage of ₹5 lakh over and above existing benefits. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of healthcare expenses on elderly citizens and ensure timely access to quality medical services.
