Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has taken up the issue of Indian students, including those from Kashmir, who are currently stranded in Iran amid mounting security concerns. The association has formally raised the matter with the Office of the External Affairs Minister and the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Office, seeking urgent intervention to ensure the safety and evacuation of the affected students.
According to JKSA, both offices have assured that the situation is being closely monitored and that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is actively working to address the concerns. Efforts are reportedly underway to ensure the safety and secure return of Indian students at the earliest.
Students from several universities in Iran have informed JKSA that the Indian Embassy has collected their personal details and passports, indicating preparatory steps for coordinated assistance and possible evacuation. The association expressed hope that these measures would soon lead to the safe return of students and bring relief to their anxious families across Jammu and Kashmir.
JKSA also noted reports from students that a few Indian nationals, including Kashmiris, were subjected to harassment and assault by protesters in recent days. However, the association clarified that the affected students are currently safe and stable, and that the Indian Embassy remains in constant touch with them.
“All communication channels between the students and Embassy officials remain open, with continuous and regular communication in place,” JKSA said, reiterating its appeal for swift action to ensure the well-being and safe return of all stranded students.
