Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days, with weather conditions expected to improve from January 1 afternoon.

According to the weather update issued by MeT Srinagar, December 30 may witness light rain or snowfall at many places, particularly towards the evening hours. The intensity is expected to increase slightly over the following two days.

From December 31 to January 1, light rain and snow are likely at most places across the Union Territory. The higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir may receive moderate snowfall, which could affect road connectivity in mountainous areas.

The Meteorological Department has further stated that weather conditions are expected to improve from the afternoon of January 1, and no significant weather activity is anticipated till January 12.

Authorities have advised travelers, especially those heading towards higher-altitude areas, to remain cautious and follow advisories issued by traffic and local administrations.

Meanwhile, residents have welcomed the forecast, as the snowfall is expected to benefit agriculture and tourism while strengthening winter water reserves in the region.
