SRINAGAR: Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday said that winter vacations for students up to Class 8 are likely to start in the first week of December due to the dropping temperatures.

She said parents have been continuously urging the government to announce the schedule, as winter becomes especially challenging for younger children. “We have already held a meeting on the matter and tentatively decided to begin the break for Classes 1 to 8 in the first week of December,” she said.

Regarding the textbook shortage, the minister added that the issue has largely been resolved.
