SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fully rehabilitate families affected by the recent floods in Kishtwar.
Speaking at Chasoti after laying the foundation stone for a new housing project for flood-hit residents, Sinha said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured complete central government support for the victims.
“Every possible effort will be made for rehabilitation and revival,” he said.
The Lt Governor recalled the devastating floods of August 14 that claimed several lives, including those of local residents, devotees, and security personnel. He noted that the administration has since worked relentlessly to provide relief and assistance under SDRF guidelines.
Sinha said government funds for housing are limited but appreciated the efforts of organizations like Moje Sonwai for helping construct durable homes. He also lauded the BRO for restoring roads, bridges, fuel stations, and mobile connectivity in the area.
He added that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was scheduled to visit the affected region, could not reach due to bad weather but extended his concern.
“The Prime Minister has assured that the central government stands firmly with the affected families. We will continue every possible effort to support their rehabilitation and revival,” Sinha said.
