KASHMIR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly member Waheed Para on Thursday accused the government of bias in media advertisement distribution and creating fear through arbitrary employee dismissals.

Speaking in the Assembly, Para said the administration has followed a “selective and discriminatory” media policy since 2019, excluding several major outlets such as Greater Kashmir, Kashmir Life, and Kashmir Times from the official advertisement list, while favouring a few chosen platforms.

He called the move a “serious blow to press freedom,” alleging that advertisements worth millions were being funneled to select media houses as independent voices were silenced.
