Srinagar, Aug 14 — Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday described the situation in Kishtwar district as “grim” following a cloudburst in the region.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Abdullah said he had spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to brief him on the developing situation. “The news is grim & accurate, verified information from the area hit by the cloud burst is slow in arriving,” he wrote.
According to Abdullah, all possible resources are being mobilised from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir to assist in rescue operations. He urged patience, stating that official updates will come from the government. “I’m not going to be speaking to channels or news agencies. The government will share information as & when possible,” he said.
Rescue teams are reportedly facing challenges due to the remote location and difficult terrain. Details on casualties or damage are awaited as communication with the affected area remains limited.
