Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma on Monday expressed confidence in the party’s success in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, claiming that the BJP is “going to make history.”“All three BJP candidates will file their nominations today. MLAs from Jammu, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, and party workers from across the UT are here.

The enthusiasm among workers and leaders shows that BJP will make history in these elections,” Sharma told ANI.He added that the party has ensured representation from all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP has named Gulam Mohammad Mir, Rakesh Mahajan, and Sat Pal Sharma as its candidates. Sat Pal Sharma is serving his second term as the party’s J&K president and was part of Mehbooba Mufti’s cabinet in 2018.

Rakesh Mahajan is the BJP’s state vice president, while Gulam Mohammad Mir contested the 2024 Assembly elections from Handwara.Meanwhile, the National Conference (NC) announced Chowdry Mohamad Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, and Shammi Oberoi as its Rajya Sabha candidates, with the fourth name to be finalized soon.

NC leader Nasir Aslam Wani said party president Farooq Abdullah will not contest, noting that Abdullah wishes to remain in J&K to continue guiding the party.
