Leh, September 24 — Amid the violent protests in Leh on Wednesday, BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged the involvement of Congress Councillor Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag in attacks on the Leh BJP office. However, activist Sonam Wangchuk dismissed the claims, stating, “Congress does not have such influence here to mobilize 5,000 youths on the streets. The councillor had only gone to a hospital yesterday in anger after two individuals from his village were admitted with injuries.”
The protests, which were held to demand statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule, turned violent, leaving at least four people dead and more than 70 others injured. In response, authorities imposed a curfew in the city and prohibited gatherings of more than five individuals.( inputs from ANI)
