SRINAGAR — In response to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, India has begun evacuating its citizens from the region. In the initial phase, 110 Indian medical students — including 90 from Jammu and Kashmir — have been successfully evacuated from Urmia Medical University in Iran and have now safely entered Armenia.
Nasir Khuehami, national convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), confirmed the development, stating that the group crossed the Iran-Armenia border overnight and is currently travelling by road to Yerevan. “They are expected to reach the Armenian capital by around noon,” he added after speaking to some of the students during their journey.
JKSA has advised the remaining Indian students in Iran to stay connected with the Indian embassy and strictly adhere to official safety advisories.
