Srinagar — Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector has been hit hard this week, with national tour operators reporting an 80–90% cancellation rate in bookings following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed 28 lives.
National and local tour operators said the cancellations began within hours of the attack and intensified over the following days. Airlines rushed to add extra return flights from Srinagar to manage the mass exodus of tourists, while government authorities intervened to regulate airfare prices amid concerns of surge pricing.
