May 16 — A 23-year-old man was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances near Rather Mandi Bridge in the Daraj area of Budhal Tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday morning.

Officials said the body was spotted by locals lying along the roadside near the bridge. Authorities were immediately informed, following which a police team arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. It was later shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The deceased has been identified as Zaheen Shah, son of Azam Shah, a resident of Daraj, Budhal. According to local sources, Zaheen had left home on Wednesday night and had not returned.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to his death. Further details are awaited.
