As the conflict between Israel and Iran stretches into its fifth day, U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out the possibility of merely halting the violence temporarily, instead calling for a complete and lasting resolution.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump stated, “We’re looking at better than a ceasefire.”
He went on to clarify his position: “A real end. Not a ceasefire. An end,” he said, as quoted by the BBC.
The President’s remarks come amid mounting international concern and renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing a broader regional escalation. The ongoing hostilities have already resulted in hundreds of casualties across both nations and caused significant volatility in global oil markets.
When asked about the U.S. response and the level of support being provided to Israel, Trump said, “Right now, we’re doing pretty well. Remember, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
The White House has not yet released further details on any new diplomatic or military initiatives. However, analysts suggest Washington is working closely with allies to contain the conflict and avoid a full-scale regional war.
Meanwhile, humanitarian agencies are warning of worsening conditions on the ground as casualties rise and infrastructure suffers extensive damage.
