Kabul, November 25, 2025:
The Afghan Taliban has sharply condemned Pakistan after overnight airstrikes by Pakistani forces targeted multiple Afghan provinces, calling the attacks a “direct assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty” and promising retaliation at a time of its choosing.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Pakistani airstrikes hit areas in Paktika, Khost and Kunar provinces last night. Mujahid described the strikes as a clear breach of international norms and an escalation that would only deepen tensions between the two neighbors.

“These hostile actions by Pakistani forces achieve nothing; they only prove that operations driven by flawed intelligence inflame tensions and expose the ongoing failures of Pakistan’s military regime,” the statement said.

The Taliban administration emphasized that Afghanistan reserves the right to defend its airspace, territory, and citizens, warning that a “necessary response will be taken at the proper time.”

The latest confrontation adds to a series of mounting disputes between Kabul and Islamabad, largely revolving around cross-border militancy and accusations from both sides of harboring hostile groups. Pakistan has not yet issued an official statement regarding last night’s airstrikes.

As tensions rise, regional observers warn the situation risks destabilizing already fragile security dynamics along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
