Srinagar | July 5
Jammu and Kashmir’s Education Minister Sakina Itoo said on Saturday that a decision on extending summer vacations will likely be made on Sunday, as the region continues to face an intense heatwave.
“We’ve received numerous calls from concerned parents and students urging an extension,” Itoo told reporters. “We’re closely monitoring the situation, and if the heatwave continues, we’ll decide on the interest of students’ health.”
She also expressed hope for rainfall, adding, “We pray for relief. The well-being of our children is our top priority.”
The Kashmir Valley has been reeling under unusually high temperatures, prompting calls for extended school closures.
