SRINAGAR – The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Tuesday detained a Bemina resident for allegedly spreading radical content online.
The individual, identified as Hilal Mir—who operated under the handles ‘Hilal Mir’ on X and ‘Mir Hilal’ on Facebook—is accused of posting distorted and inflammatory material aimed at inciting unrest, promoting secessionist ideology, and portraying India negatively.
According to officials, Mir’s digital devices, including a phone and laptop, were seized and found to contain incriminating content. Preliminary investigations also revealed contact with suspected foreign-based numbers allegedly involved in suspicious activities.
Authorities say Mir’s actions posed a potential threat to peace and security in the region. A formal investigation is underway.
