Srinagar, Dec 7 : Peoples Conference president and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, alleging that the government’s mishandling of the KAS examination process has jeopardised the future of thousands of aspirants.

Lone accused the Chief Minister of “seeking martyrdom at the cost of civil services aspirants”, claiming that many students were unable to appear in the exams due to official apathy. “Thousands had dreamt of sitting for KAS; some could have qualified. Their careers stand demolished,” he said.

Demanding a detailed written clarification from the Chief Minister on the KAS issues and recent demolition drives, Lone asked the government to specify who ordered the operations and under whose directions.

Questioning the administration’s stance on age relaxation, Lone said similar issues were resolved in Delhi by then CM Arvind Kejriwal and argued that Jammu and Kashmir had “greater powers” to address the matter.

He accused the government of prioritising events and inaugurations over crucial administrative decisions affecting students.

Lone also criticised Omar Abdullah’s remarks on the INDIA bloc, saying they contradicted his earlier statements. He alleged that the recent Rajya Sabha election revealed a “fixed match” and accused the Chief Minister of attempting to politically distance himself from the coalition while signalling towards the BJP.

Urging the Congress to review its position in the INDIA bloc in J&K, Lone said continuing the alliance despite public criticism amounted to “political humiliation.”
