SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged citizens to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, underscoring the welfare of serving personnel, veterans and their families.
Marking Armed Forces Flag Day, observed annually on December 7 to honour India’s soldiers and martyrs, the LG highlighted the nation’s responsibility toward those who serve on the frontlines.
In a post on X, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor said: “On Armed Forces Flag Day, I extend heartfelt gratitude to our valiant Armed Forces personnel and martyrs for their supreme sacrifice and service to the nation. Let’s donate generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to ensure the welfare and dignity of our brave soldiers and their families.”
The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund supports serving and retired personnel and their families by providing assistance for education, medical needs and rehabilitation. Established in 1949, the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the country’s defence forces.
