SRINAGAR: National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah on Thursday said the Public Safety Act (PSA), originally meant to curb timber smuggling, has been reduced to a tool of misuse against people.
He reminded that the NC, in its manifesto, pledged to revoke the PSA once Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood is restored, stressing that meaningful legal changes are only possible after regaining statehood.
“PSA was made to check timber smuggling but is now used against people. Only by restoring statehood can we ensure real legal reform,” Ruhullah said.
Accusing leaders of sidelining the core issue, he added: “People voted for empowerment and accountability, but the focus has drifted. We must unite to reclaim our powers and fulfill our promises.”
