Srinagar, Nov 1: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the widening and four-laning of the Boulevard Road from Nehru Park to Kral Sangri in Srinagar.
Addressing a large gathering at the event, the Chief Minister said the project would help decongest traffic, enhance road safety, and provide a smoother, greener, and more scenic travel experience for both residents and tourists visiting the city.
“The Boulevard is one of Srinagar’s most iconic stretches, and its upgradation will not only ease vehicular movement but also boost tourism by improving accessibility and aesthetics around Dal Lake,” Omar Abdullah said.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Sogami, and MLAs from Khanyar, Hazratbal, Zadibal, and Chanapora constituencies.
Officials from the Roads and Buildings Department and local representatives were also present on the occasion. The project is expected to significantly enhance the city’s transport infrastructure and support Srinagar’s vision of becoming a more sustainable and visitor-friendly urban destination.
