Prof Nilofer Khan Reappointed as Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University

SRINAGAR, May 16 — Professor Nilofer Khan has been reappointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir for a further term of two years, effective from May 19, 2025.

The announcement was made through an official order issued by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University.

“In exercise of powers vested in me under Section 12(5) of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969, I, Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, University of Kashmir, hereby reappoint Prof. Nilofer Khan as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir for a period of two (02) years with effect from 19.05.2025, the date of completion of her existing term as Vice Chancellor,” the order reads.

Prof. Khan, who made history in 2022 by becoming the first woman Vice Chancellor of the University, is known for her academic leadership and contributions to higher education in the region.
