Nowshera, May 1:
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary held a public outreach camp on Wednesday at Bhawani, a border panchayat near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera sub-division. The initiative was aimed at fostering direct dialogue with residents of frontline villages and understanding their key issues.
The Deputy CM interacted with people from Bhawani, Kalsian, and Jhangar, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed promptly. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bolstering peace, security, and infrastructure in these strategically sensitive areas.
Urging residents to stay composed, Choudhary said, “There is no reason to be alarmed. The situation is fully under control. People should stay calm and vigilant.”
This engagement is part of the administration’s broader mission to build confidence among border communities and promote good governance through direct public contact.
In a separate development, the Indian Army reported fresh incidents of unprovoked small arms firing by the Pakistan Army across the LoC on the night of April 30 and May 1, affecting areas opposite Kupwara district and the Uri and Akhnoor sectors.
Army officials confirmed that Indian troops responded swiftly and effectively, continuing a pattern of robust retaliation that began after similar cross-border provocations on the night of April 25–26. This marks the seventh consecutive day of such responses.
