NEW DELHI (May 14): Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump had offered to mediate in the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan. However, the Indian government categorically rejected any third-party intervention, he said.
Addressing a press conference, the Republican Party of India president appeared to strike a balancing act—on one hand, commending the opposition for supporting the government during the standoff, and on the other, criticising it for allegedly politicising the recent understanding between the two neighbours to cease military actions.
“The opposition must continue to stand united with the government and refrain from questioning its stance,” Athawale said.
