Kathua, Sept 25 — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday visited Lohai Malhar and Duggain blocks of Billawar tehsil in Kathua district to take stock of the situation in areas hit by recent heavy rains.
During the visit, Abdullah met with families affected by the damage and assured them of government support. He announced that the state government would allot five marlas of land to affected households and introduce a special loan waiver scheme under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to provide relief to farmers.
The Chief Minister said that damage assessments were already underway to ensure that compensation reaches victims in a timely manner. He emphasized that restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would strengthen local governance and allow for quicker, more effective responses to such crises.
