Srinagar-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday dismissed reports of a proposed power tariff hike in Jammu & Kashmir, saying he has not received any such proposal from the Power Development Department. Abdullah, who is also the Power Minister, clarified that no file seeking a revision of electricity charges is before him.
Earlier media reports had suggested a 20% tariff increase during peak hours, causing concern among consumers. The CM’s statement has eased worries for thousands of domestic and commercial users expecting a rise in their monthly bills.
